Strengthened Within

Week 7 Day 37

When Love Is Given Freely

Scripture

And as they were eating, he took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, and they all drank of it. 24 And he said to them, “This is my blood of the[a] covenant, which is poured out for many.

Mark 14:22-24 · · ESV

Sometimes it’s easier for me to give than it is to receive.

Someone offers to help, to provide a ride, to take care of something…

and my first instinct is to say,
“No, I’ve got it.”

Even when I don’t.

And I think about the night Jesus sat at the table…

knowing everything that was coming.

And still… He offered Himself.

He sat with the very ones

who would soon deny,

betray,

scatter.

And He still broke the bread.

He still passed the cup.

Take. Eat. Drink.

I don’t deserve that kind of love.

I can’t earn it.

I can’t repay it.

All I can do…

is receive it.

And accept His invitation to sit at His table.

Today, notice where you resist receiving.
And instead of turning away…
just accept what is given.

Prayer

Lord, help me receive what You freely give,
and remain at the table with You.

Return. Rest. Quiet. Trust. Strength.
